The Red Tides audiovisual production is designed to meet the following objectives:
Eliminating confusion between two different concepts such as red tides and toxic/harmful algal blooms.
Promoting the interest of the citizenship in scientific culture.
Disseminating the work of the scientific community among the non-specialized public by means of attractive and simple supports.
Promoting the understanding of the phenomenon of toxic tides and their causes.
Explaining the relationship between the oceanographic conditions and the phytoplankton dynamics responsible for the presence of biotoxins in the estuaries.
Showing the work of the scientific community and research centers in the study of reliable systems for the detection and prevention of marine biotoxins in mollusks that guarantee food safety.
Disseminating good food safety practices in relation to responsible consumption of mollusks, banishing misconceptions and false myths.
Involving in the development of the audiovisual production all related sectors: productive, scientific and administration.
