PIGMENTARY DIVERSITY IN DIATOMIES OF THE GALICIAN COAST: ECOLOGICAL IMPLICATIONS (2011-2014)

Diatoms contribute significantly to phytoplankton biomass in coastal ecosystems, such as the coastal upwelling system of the Galician estuaries. Our objective is to characterize the pigment composition of isolated diatoms during the annual cycle in NW waters of the Iberian Peninsula, as well as to determine if their pigment composition has any relationship with their temporal abundance and photosynthetic responses in the laboratory.
